The Pulti Tree
hermanostra fractura var. universalis
Tenacious native of the Caliginous Divides and throughout the
Terra wherever Bad Blood circulates wild.
"As red as the blood they share and as old as the legacy
of their and every Mère," intones the Ruby Crone.
"It has always been so and so it will always be. Cain and
the Jacob that him followed, Joseph and his multiple bloodlings,
Marisata and her winsome twinsome Malissa, and still to come with
dawning of the Grand Wiring of the Terra, will come the Rivening
and then the Renting and the Feudings of Mammon & Mammon,
of the as yet unbroken silence of the Vendettas. It is, it lies
in Blood of the Blood, in the Khoon of the Sangre, the Dham and
the Blut and the Sang. When the same Blood runs in a Hermano's
veins, its very sameness causes it to Boil and to curdle across
the two bodies."
Looking across the Caliginous Divides, where she has planted a
lofty grove of Pulti trees, the Crone continues: "All of
the unborn Brothers, not yet here to fight and feud and dispute,
but who will come, for all of them a supply of infinite Pulti
leaves is necessary," she says, "for it is in the Blood
of Blood, in the Nature of Nature, in the soul of the Clan that
Brothers will take arms against Brothers. Only the sacred and
forgiving Leaf of Pulti can heal that rift."
The Ruby Crone pauses for breath and Story. "As far as it
is known to me, it is only and alone the Pulti that has magic
to cleanse the Bruder Blood."
And on the trunk of each Tree grow these prescriptions writ in
the Hand of Crone To powder grind the leaf, with bad blood to
potion mix the powder. Three times of it drink, then on silvered
glass gaze. The face of your Brother that appears is your face.
Your brother is none other than You, two ways the Spirit becomes
flesh. You and your Brother go forth now with these Pulti blessings.
(Later, newer Crones have pointed to the shirt-like shape of Pulti
and added to the teachings. "You will see what it is like
to wear the shirt of your Brother for it will cleave to your Body
and take shape about and upon you and it it did to your Brother."
This is interpreted as signs of consanguinity hidden in Pulti.)
